National Minimum Wage Increases Effective from 1 April 2020
The National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage will increase with effect from 1 April 2020.

The National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage will increase with effect from 1 April 2020.

The National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage (applicable to over 25’s) increases are as follows:


April 2020      

25 and over - £8.72

21 to 24  -  £8.20

18 to 20 - £6.45  

Under 18  - £4.55

Apprentice - £4.15


April 2019            

25 and over - £8.21

21 to 24  -  £7.70

18 to 20 - £6.15

Under 18  - £4.35

Apprentice - £3.90



It is important to note that there are some individuals that do not qualify for the NMW. These include those who are self employed, voluntary workers, company directors, and family members who live in the home of the employer and do household chores.

If you are an employer, please ensure that you have advised your employees and updated their gross pay accordingly.
